7 cards Stud Poker

The 7 cards poker Stud variant is the third more played after the Omaha and Texas Hold’em. Until the dazzling success of the latter, the Stud was the most popular variant in the United States. This version of Poker is played around a table of 2 to 8 players. If no one goes to bed while you are 8, certain rules will have to be applied. If you play with experienced players who go to bed regularly, it is even possible to welcome a ninth player at the table. Let's see together as the 7 cards studs are played out.

Characteristics of the 7 cards stud

This version of the poker is traditionally played in cash-game, it is extremely rare to see it in tournament. Exception maof for tournaments of the H.O.R.S.E type tournaments (where we successively play the Hold'em, the Omaha Eight Or Better, the Razz (or 7 -cards in Low), the Stud (7 High Cards) and the Stud Eight Or Better (7 hi-low card)). The most expensive World Series of Poker tournaments is played in H.O.R.S.E ($ 50,000 in registration). The most played moof with the stud is the high-show. The 7 cards studs, in English 7-card Stud, requires an excellent memory on the part of the players, because it is played in a limited pot, which will call solid skills in mental calculation.

In the 7 cards studs, it is the player still in the running (who did not go to bed during the blow) who has the best hand at the time of slaughter. Note that when the hi-lp form is played here, we reward both the player with the best hand and the one with the lowest hand (which is not the synonym of low in poker, be careful). The pot is then shared in half.

There are large differences between the 7 cards studs and the Hold’em. Already, there is no common card, we only play with private cards, called open (implied at the sight of other players) and others closed. The number of players at the 7 cards studs is maximum 8, even 9 players while the Hold’em tolerate 10 around the table. While the Hold’em set system begins with blinds, in the Stud, they do not exist. Each player pays an ante ($ 1) and then the player who starts poses a forced bet that is called the Bring-in. The following player will put the sum of the Bring-in or double it. The player who starts talking is the player who displays the best hand open. Except for the first round where it is the lowest hand that is expressed before the others.

You will understand that the advantage is not given with the place you occupy at the table before the cards are distributed. It is the value of Ces-Denières that deciof on the first speaker and the last during each bet. This means that the luck factor is a larger room in the short term.

Uncounted a game (or suddenly)

As specified above, the Stud is mainly played in limited mode, each player to pay an ante who is a compulsory putting before the distribution of cards to have the right to participate in the game. The cards are distributed so that each Player has two open cards and one closed in hand. The player who begins to speak is the one who has the weakest open card. He pays the Bring-in, or the double, if he wishes and each of the players speaks successively in the direction of the needles of a watch. In the event of the lowest open card equal, the principle of colored hierarchy is applied. In the growing order, we have the clover, the tile, the heart and the spike.

The action begins in the first auction. The player who therefore has the weakest card is obliged to bet the Bring-in, or double if he wants. Then the donor burns a card and distributes a card open to each, we call this step " fourth street ». Then the second round of auctions arrives. This time the player has the strongest open combinations that speaks first. He can check or bet the Bring-In double. Please note, if a pair is exposed, it can twice double the Bring-in (if the Bring-in is at $ 5, the exhibition of a pair in the second auction allows the player to bet $ 20 if it wishes).

The distribution of the third card opened to all the players by the donor who first took care to burn one is called the " fifth street In the same way as in the second round, the third auction gives the floor to the player who has the best open combination (thanks to the three cards now exposed). To the fourth open open card, also called the " sixth street », The donor does not burn a card and once again gives a card open to each of the table players. Again, the player who has the best open combination is the first to speak.

Finally, comes the last distributed card (" seventh street »). The donor burns a card and distributes a last card, this time closed to all players. The auction takes place in the same way as before. The players still present in the game then cut their cards, it is the slaughter, or the showdown. The last player to have relaunched or bet (called the aggressor) is the first to show his cards. The best combination of players in the running wins the pot.

In the end, the most important of the decisions you will have to make during a stud of 7 cards will be to determine whether you are going to play your starting hand or not. Depending on the number of players around the table, some hands are better than others. The pairs will have more value on the tables with few players. Other hands will naturally have the advantage when the tables are more populated.

This version of the poker requires a great observation of the players, their hands and the memorization of the previous towers as well as their logic of bet. For all these reasons, the 7 cards studs is not a recommended variant for beginners.
